This is an older painting I am reposting. I am in a lull of not knowing how to paint anymore. I also am tearing my studio apart, so production is at a standstill. Sometime in the future, I will hopefully decide whether or not I really can paint again. Maybe, cleaning and purging will bring about a new start!! Time will tell!!

This little gem was from a visit to the Portland, Oregon Rose Garden this past summer. I was there at the height of the season. It was like being in a sea of roses, fragrance and color. Sensory overload, in a very good way. An easy way to fill your camera to capacity!!

Pigs are one of my favorite animals, they have so much expression and are very endearing. I would be one of those people who would let them in my house and treat it like a pet.!

This is a quick sketch of end of summer flowers in the garden. One of my favorites, echinacea. I am amazed how many different of these coneflowers exist in our Maine Botanical Garden. If ever in the state, this is an unbelievable garden to visit, complete with children's section with crooked trees and crooked garden houses!

This is a quick sketch I did the other day when I had time to fit in a little painting. This has been a really
crazy busy summer, to say the least. Weddings, vacation, studio transition, (bad weather) and an annual
wet paint auction that I help run that has an attendance of almost 400 people. This is our 6th one and we have incredible artists paint all day and we follow with an awesome reception on an estate on the water with music, food and a lively auction. The quality of work is amazing and exciting. It takes place Sunday, so we are in hyper mode. (Did I say the northeast is having bad, humid, rainy weather). Hoping the forecast sticks for Sunday as the prediction is good. Hope to be back in the swing of things soon. I am sure I will have gone back several steps in my painting ability, I am not sure if I know how to hold a paint brush!

This is an oil from the past that was hanging around my studio unloved. I kept eyeing it with unhappiness, but with some hope attached. So, I tackled it, just a little, lightened it up and now I have a bit of a crush on it. Not quite love, but better........

Deconstructed Shadows

FINI! I think.... I am pretty sure I could keep finding things to correct, but for now I am done. I will have to reshoot this in different light, the colors are not that accurate. This is showing way too blue, the shadows are really a grayer color, I will repost when I get it right.

Iris Sketch

I found this in a reject pile from quite a while ago. I forgot about it, but remember not being happy with it. Well, I decided after seeing this again that it is not too bad for a quick sketch. Since I have nothing new to post and I'm going out of town for a week, here is a filler of sorts. Interesting to look at something anew, it's a little easier not being so hard on oneself.

Hollyhocks

This was a paint over of an original try at some hollyhocks. It isn't really done, but I had fun just playing around. I think it needs a little tweaking, not a masterpiece, but I achieved some satisfaction over what was on the canvas before! So many of my misses lay dormant without having any energy to try to right the messiness I created, (even tho I have good intentions to do so), I am happy about going back to one, at least.....

Lupin Field

This is a painting from an incredible field I found a couple years ago here in Maine. The lupins are prolific in late spring and early summer along the coast and highways. This field, along a country road has me coming back to it every year. Not only is it filled with colorful lupins, there is a carpet of buttercups along with it. It is stunning! I wish they lasted all summer........
