Chris on the Rocks

8 x 10 Oil on canvas panel
NFS

This was an attempt to stay loose and painterly, not 100% there, but getting there. I've always had trouble with rocks, but I think the quick brush strokes worked for them.

  1. Oh it looks good! I have trouble with rocks too. On my list of things to tackle. Nice Mary Anne!

  2. Yes! they did! beautiful job! I can feel the heat of the sun on my face! Rocks are a challenge for me as well. Shapes, I have to remember to see the abstract shapes and not worry about the small pebbles. Beautifully done Mary Ann!

  3. I'm sure liking your figures and admire how you can switch from pastels to oils and do both so well. This is a fine composition and I like the way the shadow color repeats the ocean's.

  4. Great figure painting, Mary Anne. You've managed to have the figure stand out so well in spite of the activity all around. Great composition.

  5. Even though you used very nice soft colors, it still has a very masculine feel - it must be your brush strokes. I think this is very loose painting - just enough detail. You should be very proud of it.
