Southwest Harbor 3

10 x 10 Oil on canvas board   SOLD
This is a painting I did back in August, 2010 and painted over and retouched. I never really liked it, but I have to have a couple 10 x 10s for a show. I don't have a lot of paintings that size, so, I decided to rework this. I like it much better now. Take a look and compare if you have the time, and give me your critique!

  1. This painting definitely has more energy..I liked the other one too, but it was busier in the foreground, whereas this one is more balanced. Love the colors of the sky.

  2. I think this is great. Don't recall seeing it before. Nice brushwork--love the way you did the rocks. The lilies and irises you did are cool too--like the pattern thing in those two.

  3. It took me a while to find it. http://maryannecary.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html

This really shows your growth as an oil painter. I like the first one, but the new has so much more going for it. There is more feeling of depth. With less happening in the foreground, my eye goes to the trees and that beautiful sky.
