Magnolia Sky

Pastel 11 x 14 unframed size

This was a fun one to do, I love the pinks and blue sky. I even took a bud from the tree and put it next to me as I painted. I fear for these blooms though, we had early warm weather prompting growth, and now the forecast is for cold. I am done with cold, and so are the flowers!

  1. Absolutely love it! This is just gorgeous and it looks so animated, like the branches are moving on a breezy day. Our magnolias aren't quite there yet...but soon!

  2. Mary Anne - LOVE it! Fresh...lush... My parents have a tree that I hope to start painting next week. The blooms are *almost* there. If they turn out as snappy as this I will be thrilled : )) Beautiful.

  4. This is so striking, Mary Anne. I think you must have had a dark under painting.(?) At any rate, the dark bits add such a nice texture and interest to the surface. The palette is just lovely.

  7. This is beautiful - it reminds me of Van Gogh's painting of a blossoming almond tree. It's very delicate and fresh, great stuff!
