This is a study/sketch I did a while ago in pastel. The pastel allows for a looseness I don't often achieve in oils.

Sunflower Riot

This is an older pastel I did and thought worthy of posting. I am in the middle of a few things and unable to post regularly. It's nice to go through older work and rediscover a painting that was cast aside for one reason or another. Once and a while on reevaluating I can't come up with the basis for my unhappiness with a piece…...

Schoodic Rocks #5

8 x 10 Pastel on paper

I thought I better post something so I can prove I am alive. I have finished a couple oils, I just have not had time to photograph them. So, I am forced to post another pastel of rocks. Oils coming soon!

Marsh Edge

Another in my latest pastel series. I am giving sizes of artwork, but all pastels are eventually framed when someone has an interest. I am playing around with dry mounting the art and framing with spacers. After doing oils, I am losing interest in mats, even tho pastels do look great with mats.

OMG! A painting! I actually did a painting! I just finished this for a wet paint auction, nerve wracking, but it forces one to get out and get to it. You have no choice if you register for theses events. So, I fit it in and am happy it worked out!

Lily Pads

Or ponds are filled with these plants this time of year. The flowers are so beautiful and delicate floating on the surface. They remind me of story book plants.

Blue Iris

I have been in a pastel mood, a little easier to set up than oils during busy times. Perfect for all the flowers in bloom now!

A study of more of these coneflowers. I am enjoying trying some different angles with these. I would like to try more making them more abstract.

Well, our gardens don't look like this yet, but give us a little while here in Maine and we will be in full swing. I hope! You never know with New England, especially northern NE!

Pink Coneflowers

This is a donation for the Kennebunk Animal Rescue auction happening in May. I really like doing these paintings, I think I will have to do more.
