Hydrangea Blues

6 x 8 Oil on canvas board
In keeping with my pallet knife experimenting, here is another in a series I am doing. The photo is not great, I will replace it with a better one soon.

Maine Landscape 15

6 x 8 Oil on canvas panel
Pallet knife version of a small landscape. I like using the knife, it gives me a little more freedom and inspires me to be looser. I should do more in this fashion, I like the results.

Turbat's Creek and Marsh

11 x 14 Pastel on Paper
OMG! A painting! I actually did a painting! I just finished this for a wet paint auction, nerve wracking, but it forces one to get out and get to it. You have no choice if you register for theses events. So, I fit it in and am happy it worked out!

Iris Garden

7 x 7 pastel on paper, matted and framed 12 x 12
I long for free time to paint, I seem to be so busy, and don't see it letting up. That is good in some ways, but I have to neglect a lot of things I would like to be doing. I will be happy and not complain, it is summer and finally warm here in Maine and very beautiful!

Southwest Harbor 3

10 x 10 Oil on canvas board   SOLD
This is a painting I did back in August, 2010 and painted over and retouched. I never really liked it, but I have to have a couple 10 x 10s for a show. I don't have a lot of paintings that size, so, I decided to rework this. I like it much better now. Take a look and compare if you have the time, and give me your critique!

Lily Pads

7 x 7 1/2 Pastel on paper
matted and framed 12 x12
Or ponds are filled with these plants this time of year. The flowers are so beautiful and delicate floating on the surface. They remind me of story book plants.

Red, White and Blue

Not quite the 4th yet, and this wasn't intentional. When I looked at the finished piece, the name stuck out, being that time of year!

Spring Poppies

6 x 6 Oil on canvas board   SOLD
This is going to be a busy summer. All kinds of events along with my son's wedding in September. Why does everything seem condensed, I think we need longer summers to fit so many special things in. Especially here in the northeast, where we try to fit too much in, in a short season. I can sense that painting is going to take a hit! I will have to record inspirations and hope to get to the easel!

Key West Rooster 2

6 x 8 Oil on canvas board
I love these guys struttin their stuff and squawking at everyone that gets in their way. They make me smile when I see them in Key West. Noisy, but very entertaining. If you hurt one of these fellas, you get a fine!! So, beware if you visit, and make sure you go to the wildlife refuge, they have tons of birds and baby chicks, they give them to farms away from the town. A great volunteer service to support!

Breakfast Table

6 x 6 Oil on gessoed masonite

I have been really busy, and feel guilty about neglecting my painting. Does thinking about it count? Maybe a little, eventually I am just going to set myself back. Sometimes I feel defeated to keep up with my daily responsibilities, and try to paint. I think part of it is organization. I am definitely in need of organizing and prioritizing. All big words. I better get to work and find a solution, after I go to bed and sleep on it.

Table Setting

8 x 10 Oil on gessoed masonite
It is rainy, cold and dreary in New England. I feel we are losing out on the spring here. We are supposed to be out enjoying this time of year, gardening, walking and enjoying the new flowers. Instead, we are holed up, and I am getting impatient! My son is leaving to go sailing off the coast of Mexico into the warm and sunny South Pacific. My imagination is with him in the bright sunshine and surrounded by aqua waters with warm tropical breezes......

Well, our gardens don't look like this yet, but give us a little while here in Maine and we will be in full swing. I hope! You never know with New England, especially northern NE!

Around Sunset

8 x 8 Oil on canvas board, framed
I always think that skies look like they should be easy to paint, but it takes me so long to mix the right colors and have it look believable. I love the outcome when they work!
