Magnolia Sky 3

This is a take on a pastel I did of the same scene. I was at a loss, forgot how to paint, so I had to
copy a successful previous painting to prove I really could paint. It is a moderate success, re-establishing that I do have some ability. I am at a wishy washy place, needing some direction. I always say to others at this point, don't think, just paint. So, that is what I am trying!!

After The Rain

This is the way these poppies in my garden looked after a rain storm. They are one of my favorite garden flowers, but don't seem to last long before they start to droop, especially if we have some rain or wind. They are so artistic and almost whimsical, I am also intrigued with the seed pods once the flowers are gone. I know they would make a great painting, too.

Autumn Hues

One of my favorite walks through woods and fields here has benefits all times of the year. In the spring, the grasses get tall and the trails are mowed, so you feel like you are in a maze. By the end of the summer and into early fall, the wild grasses and flowers turn to golden hues, along with the Queen Anne's Lace and shades of white.

This was a road along the coast on some private property. The road was beckoning, but I was unable to pass. The ocean was to the right, a perfect setting, not uncommon in these parts.

Another coastal Maine painting, but I have to say I was happy with these blues and greens. They just seem pleasing to me. Coastal colors are always interesting and always change not just season to season, but it seems sometimes, day to day!

Not Quite Ready

These beautiful oranges are from a recent trip to California. If anyone saw me taking close up photos of oranges, they probably wondered if I ever saw them before. Well, we don't have the privilege of having citrus growing like this in the northeast, and I always wanted to paint some in all their glory, on the trees with leaves! A seasonal color scheme, this was an older pomegranate that dried and had lots of great plains and
angles. Because of this aging, it made for lots of shadows and was a fun, fast sketch I attempted.
