Goldfinch 2

6 x 6 Oil on cradled board   SOLD
email: mcary1@maine.rr.com
A few people have been asking to see some more bird paintings, so I am starting to paint a few again.
They were popular at my holiday show, but what better time than spring when the birds are all appearing again. I love watching them at our feeders......

Buoy Study

8 x 10 oil on canvas board
email: mcary1@maine.rr.com
I am a little lost with direction right now, so I am just painting some loose sketches with not a lot of fuss. I am hoping painting without expectations will get me back in the swing of things. This is another quick sketch or study.

Slices

6 x 6 Oil on gessobord
email: mcary1@maine.rr.com
A quick oil sketch I did this week, to get back into the swing of things. Slow to start after vacation,
so I have been practicing some quick paintings without too much thinking. A jump start, so to speak.
I need some jump "sparks"!

11 x 14 Oil on cradled gessobord
email: mcary1@maine.rr.com
Here is the finished piece. I was away for a week, and it is always slow to get back into the groove after being away. I wasn't sure about the background, but am happy with this, for now!!

This is the start of a new painting in my deconstructed/abstract series.
I thought I would post this start even though it will be a while until the next progression photo is posted.
I will be away for a week. Stay tuned.....

Calla Lilies

12 x 12 Oil on gessobord
email: mcary1@maine.rr.com
I recently painted this in between my deconstructed series. I really loved the curvy shapes of flowers and couldn't resist. So, my paintings vary from realistic to abstract, or, what is inspiring me for the moment....

This is the newest painting in my Deconstructed series. It is an unfinished piece with not too much left to do, but I am going away for a week and thought I would post it as is. Stay tuned for the finished painting, I took a series of photos along the way that I will post, also.

Western Marsh

12 x 12 Oil on canvas board
email: mcary1@maine.rr.com
A little bit of a different coastal scene for me, one from the opposite coast from where I live. This northern California marsh scene has a distinctive feel, unlike the colors of our Maine seascapes.

Baby Cow

10 x 10 Oil on canvas board
email: mcary1@maine.rr.com

This is a photo from a fall harvest fair, I have been eyeing this baby for a while, just waiting for the right time to tackle her. There were all kinds of people around learning about her and wanting to touch her. She was very patient and kind, waiting to get back in the pen with mama.

Black, White and Blue

12 x 12 Oil on gessobord

I don't know what prompted this. It is one of those ideas that has been in my head, when I am out and about and forming paintings in my mind after looking at something. So, I thought I would try it. I don't know if it works, so give me your opinions. It is much more black and white than my computer is making it look, but I was also thinking of putting a background in, but not sure........ (the background is the white of the gessobord)

Another Island View

8 x 8 Oil on canvas board
email: mcary1@maine.rr.com
This is a scene I go back to from time to time. It's interesting that it intrigues me enough that I want to paint it again. I see it as a fresh subject all over, and enjoy seeing the different results.

Apples and Vase

6 x 6 Oil on cradled board
email: mcary1@maine.rr.com
I did a few small still life paintings along with the birds for my studio's holiday show.
The birds sold fast, and most still scenes sold after the birds flew the coop. I am looking forward to this holiday hubbub ending to get back to painting. I am going to continue with my birds and my recent abstracts, paining has been interrupted too long! A snow day tomorrow will allow me to start some sketches...... yeah!

Two Ibis

6 x 6 Oil on cradled board   SOLD
email: mcary1@maine.rr.com
Two Florida Ibis on a telephone wire. They seem like such characters, there were many of them and they seem to be crabby with each other.
