8 x 8 Oil on canvas board, framedemail: mcary1@maine.rr.com
I always think that skies look like they should be easy to paint, but it takes me so long to mix the right colors and have it look believable. I love the outcome when they work!

A lovely hawk, watching for his next meal up in a bare tree with a wintery sky behind.
What a beauty he was, so regal in his perch!

Marsh Color
11 x 14 Oil on boardemail: mcary1@maine.rr.com
This is painted from photograph of a fall marsh scene that started out more realistic, but ended up bright and a little abstract. Those are supposed to be trees in the background, but they look like hills. I just kept adding color, it really looks like southwestern colors. An experiment gone a little wild!

Skiff Row
11 x 14 Oil on gessoed masonite SOLD
email: mcary1@maine.rr.com
I actually got to paint and finish a piece over the last couple days. A feat, since I feel so scattered lately. I enjoyed using this monochromatic color scheme, painted from a black and white photo. I decided to keep it to these blue hues, although for my darks I use a mixture of pthalo green and alizarin crimson. (I was away in sun and flowers, New England is dark, damp and dismal!!) Ready to leave again! Hope some of you are enjoying spring!

Just a quick oil sketch I did recently, thought I better post something since I have been away and not too prolific. Boy, painting and photographing paintings takes a lot of time!

This isn't the greatest photo, but it will have to do. I am going on vacation for a couple weeks, so there will be a lull in posting. Hope it is spring when I get back! (I have high hopes!)

Apple Pile
8 x 8 Oil on canvas boardemail: mcary1@maine.rr.com
I must say, I haven't been the best about posting regularly. Lately, I seem to be caught up in too many other things and have been neglecting my painting time. I will have to change that, because, unfortunately I can't add more hours to my day! (Although, I wish I could!) Hopefully, I will be back on track asap!
